The City of Florence, Miller Park Restroom & Concessions Building project consists of a 1,408 square-foot, single-story, concrete masonry block building on a slab foundation, with standing seam metal roofing system over glued-laminated beams. The existing wood framed concession building was demolished and the existing area was regraded. Construction included footings & foundations, building shell (including walls, roofs, ceilings, doors, windows, and louvers), rough-in electrical and plumbing, and concrete improvements included patios and sidewalks.
Collier Memorial State Park features a campground, outdoor museum of historic logging equipment, relocated pioneer village and a four-corral, primitive horse camp and trailhead. The logging museum features rare and antique logging equipment dating to the 1880s, as well as more recent pieces.
In 2020, the park was devastated by the 242 Fire that ravaged the area in 2020, burning nearly 400 acres within the park. Multiple campgrounds and facilities were damage and/or completely destroyed. The damage included parts of the historic museum and some of the equipment within the museum, a historic cabin, a woodshed, and a host trailer.
Civil West was contracted by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department to help restore the park to pre-fire conditions as well as additional improvements. In order to do this we are currently working on the following projects: Topographic survey of the campground and museum, new civil designs for 20x35’ maintenance building, designs for new roadways and parking lots, civil design for new RV dump station, As-Built drawings, and construction management services.
Rooster Crow Park is seen as one of most exciting beautification projects downtown Rogue River, Oregon has ever undertaken. The park improvements included new bathrooms, new pavilion , splash pad , paver walkways, outdoor lighting, as well as ping-pong and chess tables. Civil West had the pleasure of working with the Innovative Readiness Training (IRT) program and city staff during the construction phase of this community improvement.
The City of Florence owns several parcels of land at the Southwest end of the City. These parcels were slated for park development so pedestrians can access beach front land from Rhododendron Drive. Civil West worked with the City to design and oversee the development of a gravel path to a designated park area, a new paved parking lot, park benches and picnic tables with a covered pavilion and a boat tie-off point for boaters to access the beach from the water.
Since 1992, the Lincoln City Cultural Center has enriched the community through art and cultural events including art galleries, dance and musical performances, film festivals and other family based community events. Over time the center needed a host of renovations, Civil West was contracted for new improvements including new meandering sidewalk exiting the building; new sidewalk with ADA driveway apron along Highway 101; total redesign of the parking lot taking into account storm drainage; storm drainage catch basins and piping; landscape features; and site grading to accommodate new improvements.
